Material Description:
-
Expanded PolyStyrene (EPS) ,commonly called styrofoam, consists of small
white foam beads that are exploded by steam and bonded into blocks. It is
available in several densities (3/4#, 1#, and 2#) and available in thicknesses
up to 36". Bun stock is approximately 36" x 49" x 98".
- 3/4# EPS is a light grade material primarily used for packaging, void fill, sculpture, and stage sets.
- 1# EPS is primarily used for packaging inserts (e.g., corner pieces), flotation, and light insulation. A 24" x 48" x 96" slab of 1# EPS will float 4500 #'s. with a water absorbtion of .1% to 1.9%. 1# EPS also has an R factor of 3.85/in @ 75 F and 4.17/in @ 40 F.
- 2# EPS is primarily used for heavy packaging requirements and insulation. 2# EPS has a R-factor of 4.17/in @ 75 F and 4.76/in @ 40 F.
Warning: this material must not come into contact with solvents, Use only waterbased paints and adhesives.(ie. wood glue)
(# = pounds)
(density = pounds per cubic foot)
(R-factor= Thermal Resistance Factor is a measure of the ability to retard heat flow. The higher the "R" the better the insulating value)
